--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Three new affordable
artist live/work units in Fort Point will be advertised soon through
the BRA Artist Space Initiative. These units are part of the FP3 building
development now under construction at 346-354 Congress Street. They
will be sold through a lottery process with a preference for BRA Certified
Artists. Income and asset restrictions will apply. I will be sending
you information about these units and the schedule to apply to purchase
them in early 2008. In the meantime, interested artists should be
aware that:
a) the next deadline for
BRA Artist Certification has been extended until January 31, 2008.
Guidelines and application are attached. If you were certified anytime
within the last 5 years then your certification is still valid. Artists
seeking recertification can apply using the same guidelines.
b) applicants for these
units will be required to submit materials documenting their financial
eligibility at the time of application. These materials include:
copies of federal and state
tax returns for the two most recent tax years
pay stubs/year-to-date profit and loss statements, depending on the
way your income is paid to you
pre-approval letter from a mortgage lender at the time of application.
To learn more about securing a mortgage, you might consider taking
a City of Boston First Time Homebuyer class. 2008 class schedule will
be available in about three weeks at http://www.cityofboston.gov/dnd/hbs/default.asp.
Completion of this class is not a requirement to apply for these units.
