UPCOMING WORKSHOP SERIES FOR ARTISTS WITH DISABILITIES

VSA arts of Massachusetts and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston have collaborated to offer a series of workshops benefiting artists with disabilities who wish to enhance their skills and knowledge in promoting their art.

March 4, 2010, 6-8PM @ MFA
MFA Tour and drawing in the Galleries, Part 1

Join other artists for a FREE visit to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA).  Take a tour of selected artwork from the permanent collection (focusing on art of Oceania, Africa, Europe and Ancient Rome), with stops along the way for drawing or writing.  At the end of the evening, you will have your own record of your visit, as well as information about other opportunities at the MFA for artists.  Leon Jerfita will lead the tour in American Sign Language (ASL); it will be voiced for visitors who are hearing.  Tour is from 6-8 pm.  Pre-registration required.  Please contact by March 1 to register.  You will be sent information about where to meet and what to bring.

"Showing Your Work: A Clinic on Spaces and Approaches for Studio Artists"

The goal of the session is to give participants information that will help them think about the appropriate venues for their work and what is necessary to present their work professionally.  Every participant should leave with some ideas for taking next steps with their art.

Hannah Goodwin, Manager of Accessibility, MFA and artist
Jeffrey Melzack, artist and instructor

This session will be held in the Community Room, 1st Floor at the NonProfit Center, 89 South Street Boston, MA.  This is a Brown Bag Dinner.  There are several eateries nearby.  Please pay securely now by clicking the "Pay Now" button below or send a $10.00 registration fee no later than April 23 to secure a seat.  Please make checks payable to VSAM and mail to VSA arts of Massachusetts, The Non Profit Center 89 South St, #101 Boston, MA 02111.  Some scholarships are available for those needing financial assistance.  Please contact to discuss your request.  If you are a current MRC consumer, please inform us in advance or with your registration.

MFA Tour and drawing in the galleries, Part 2

Return to the MFA (or come for the first time) and continue the FREE tour of the Museum's collections.  This tour will explore Art of Egypt, Asian Art and Contemporary Art.  For more information about this program, see the March 4 event listed above.  Pre-registration required.  Please contact by May 3 to register.  You will be sent information about where to meet and what to bring.
